The assassination attempt on populist
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico reportedly by a 70-something
leftist activist does not appear to be an act of terrorism,
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday.
"We are awaiting official news, but seeing the age of the
suspect, over 70, it seems that the context is not terrorist,"
he said.
Fico, 59, a friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin and
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, is fighting for his life
after surgery on 3-4 abdominal gunshot wounds as well as others
to an arm and leg.
