Australian High Court grants civil status to transgenders
Court recognizes people who are 'neither male nor female'
02 April, 15:06 (ANSA) - Sydney, April 2 - The High Court of Australia on
Wednesday granted definitive legal recognition to people who do
not identify themselves in government records as either female
or male.
The historic ruling establishes that laws regarding civil status must also admit people who are identified as "neither male nor female" and thus allow the recording of the sex of a person as "not specified".
