(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 2 - Newcastle's former AC Milan Italy
midfielder Sandro Tonali has been disqualified for two months by
the English Football Association after admitting breaching
betting rules, the English club's website said Thursday.
The former Rossoneri player - who is already serving a ten-month
disqualification issued in Italy in October 2023 for offences
committed when he was at AC Milan - will not serve the
disqualification unless he commits further offences before the
end of next season.
The measure carries a penalty of £20,000.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is helping Tonali, 23, with his
gambling addiction.
Tonali, who has been capped 15 times since 2019, should be back
on the field of play in August when his Italian ban expires.
