(ANSA) - ROME, APR 24 - Pope Francis said Wednesday he was
praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine and other war-torn
parts of the world and said that only arms manufacturers were
currently gaining from the various conflicts.
"War is always a defeat and only arms makers win," he said.
The pope also reiterated his appeal for the two-states solution
to the Mideast crisis, saying "Palestine and Israel should be
two States, free and with good relations".
Faith, hope and charity, the three prime theological virtues,
were an "antidote to self-sufficiency," he added at his weekly
general audience in St Peter's Square.
Francis also said that pride was a "powerful poison which even
ruins lives dedicated to good".
The Argentine pontiff gave four kids a ride on his pope-mobile
before the audience. (ANSA).
