(ANSA) - ROME, APR 24 - A newborn Italian baby boy with a
very serious heart defect was flown from the UK by military
plane to Rome's Vatican-run Bambino Gesù Hospital on Tuesday
evening, the office of Premier Giorgia Meloni at Palazzo Chigi
said Wednesday.
It said the hospital was ready to provide all necessary care
according to the family's wishes.
The boy was born a few days ago in the UK.
"Both I and my wife have our hearts overflowing with joy for
what is happening," said the baby's father.
"We thank with all our hearts Premier Giorgia Meloni, who
substantively worked to make the transfer of our son possible,
Cabinet Secretary Alfredo Mantovano and the functionaries of the
premier's office in particular counsellors Nicola Guerzoni and
Francesco Farri who gave their indispensable contribution".
