Art historian and journalist Maria
Emanuela Bruni has been assigned the interim presidency of
Rome's MAXXI contemporary art museum after its former head
Alessandro Giuli was sworn in as culture minister last week.
The board of MAXXI's foundation announced the decision on
Wednesday night.
Bruni, a member of MAXXI's board with a long experience in
institutional roles, was the first woman in 2008 to serve as
head of protocol at Palazzo Chigi, the prime minister's office.
Giuli was sworn in on Friday as the successor of Gennaro
Sangiuliano after the ex-culture minister was embroiled in a
scandal over a would-be advisor he allegedly had an affair with.
