Soccer: Destro set to miss Italy fitness tests after ban (see related story) (ANSA) - Rome, April 8 - Italy coach Cesare Prandelli is unlikely to call up Mattia Destro for next week's pre-World Cup fitness tests after the AS Roma striker was banned for four matches by Serie A's sporting judge on Tuesday, ANSA sources said.

Nevertheless, the in-form 23-year-old remains in the running for a place in Prandelli's squad for this summer's tournament in Brazil, the sources said.

Destro was banned for three matches for hitting an opponent during Roma's 3-1 win at Cagliari on Sunday, when he scored all of his team's goals.

The other match is an automatic ban incurred from a yellow card he picked up in the game.

Prandelli does not call up players who are serving suspensions, in accordance with his code of conduct for the national team. The code only applies for the duration of the ban.
